About Moraga, CA - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
Moraga was named after Joaquin Moraga, grandson of Joseph Joaquin Moraga, founder of San Francisco. Granted over 13,000 acres in a land grant from the Mexican government, Moraga who was primarily a cattle rancher, quickly sold off part of the ranch when trespassers destroyed the redwoods seeking lumber. When California became a state in 1850, the Moraga family lost the remainder of the ranch at the hand of an unscrupulous lawyer, Horace Walpole Carpentier who took advantage of the families′ illiteracy and inability to speak English.
After much growth and settling, The Moraga lumber company later planted orchards of pear and walnut trees. Other settlers grazed cattle on the lush hillsides and grew crops in the valleys between what is now known as the cities of Lafayette and Orinda. Moraga residents strive to preserve the natural environment to enjoy for generations to come, continuing with the traditions of those before them in the agricultural industry. Moraga′s coldest month being January with temperatures averaging 53 and the warmest month September with temperatures averaging 80, Moraga is perfect for events such as the Pear and Wine Festival, Mother-Daughter Tea events, Mother Son Dances, Father-Daughter Dances, Community Fairs, Oktoberfest, outdoor art exhibits, wine tasting events and cooking events.
Moraga is home to one private high school, one public high school, one private middle school, one public middle school and four public elementary schools. Moraga is also home to a private Lasallian college, Saint Mary′s College of California, and is within 15 miles of seven other colleges and universities such as the University of Phoenix–Bay Area Campus and University of California–Berkeley.
