About Martinez, CA - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
Two of Martinez′ most notable contributions to the world are being home to Yankee baseball′s Joe DiMaggio and the popular drink the "martini". Martinez started out as a gold rush and shipping center in the 1800s. Martinez became the first town in the District of Contra Costa. Once the early settlers realized they were not going to "make their fortunes" in gold they wrote home their families in the East about the long growing seasons, long spring season, lush vegetation and mild weather of the region. These descriptions attracted men to reunite with their loved ones out west and settle in this beautiful landscape and Martinez quickly became a farming and agricultural center for many. Immigrants from all over began to flock to the area. Italian fisherman quickly began to arrive, opening bakeries, wineries, and pasta companies. When the Shell Oil Company discovered Martinez in 1915 the town quickly boomed again creating a commercial area for all to prosper.
Martinez offers a variety of activities from fishing, hiking trails, sports fields of all kinds. Martinez offers hundreds of acres of self-guided hiking trails around Franklin Creek and fishing in Arroyo del Hambre Creek for the outdoorsman in you. Among other events and activities offered by the Martinez community are an aquatic center, outdoor music events, parades, festivals, and of course historical museums telling the wonderful story of how Martinez came to be. The Marina offers free pier fishing, a yacht club and of course many waterside restaurants and cafes for waterfront dining.
Along with boasting of the many recreational activities Martinez has to offer, Martinez residents are able to enjoy the educational experience with one high school, one middle school, and five elementary schools in Martinez as well as being located within 20 miles of seven colleges and universities such as the University of California–Berkeley and Diablo Valley College.
