Concord, California is nestled 29 miles east of San Francisco, near the magnificent Mt. Diablo, and is the largest city in Contra Costa County. Briefly known as Todos Santos ("All Saints"), Concord was originally settled by the Chupucan Indians who came to the valley for its salmon filled streams and hills rich with game including elk, deer, antelope, and grizzly bears. In 1834, the area was taken over by Spanish explorers as part of the Mexican land grant Rancho Monte del Diablo.
Moderate average temperatures encourage visitors and residents to enjoy the Todos Santos Plaza in downtown, site to many activities and festivals held throughout the year such as the farmer′s market, concerts and outdoor movie nights. Concord weather allows hiking in many of the area parks such as Cambridge Park, J F Baldwin Park, Sun Terrace Park, and Willow Pass Community Park.
